Masaka set for WSL debut with Brighton

LONDON, ENGLAND: TANZANIAN player, Aisha Masaka is poised to make her debut in the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) today as Brighton & Hove Albion host Everton at Broadfield Stadium in London.

Masaka, the first female Tanzanian footballer to feature in the WSL, has generated excitement among fans, eager to see her in action.

Brighton recently revealed her jersey number 7—a number often associated with great significance in football—on their club’s Instagram account.

In a previous interview, Masaka expressed her enthusiasm for joining the WSL, calling it a dream come true.

“This is a dream for many women footballers to play in such a prestigious league.

They just need to work hard to achieve their goals because everything is possible,” she said.

Before joining Brighton, Masaka played for Sweden’s BK Hacken, where she contributed to the team’s second place finish last season, earning 36 points from 15 matches.

Brighton & Hove Albion currently sits in 9th place in the WSL, bolstering their squad with promising talent for the upcoming campaign.

A product of the Alliance Academy in Mwanza, Masaka played there from 2018 to 2021 before moving to Yanga Princess in the Tanzania Women’s Premier League.
