Majaliwa applauds surge of Tanzania women footballers abroad
DODOMA: PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has expressed enthusiasm about the increasing number of Tanzanian women footballers succeeding in professional leagues overseas.
Speaking at the conclusion of the 16th meeting of the 12th Parliament in Dodoma on Friday, Majaliwa highlighted the significance of the development.
“It is encouraging to see that the Tanzanian women’s football team now includes players who are excelling internationally.
“Statistics from the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) indicate that our national team is now composed of players who are making their mark abroad. This is a commendable achievement,” Majaliwa noted.
The PM listed several standout players, including Noela Patrick (Israel), Hasna Linus, Maimuna Mussa, Susan Adam (Egypt), Rehema Ramadhan (Rwanda) and Mariam Yusuf (Burundi).
Other notable players mentioned were Julita Singano (Mexico), Opa Clement (China), Clara Luvanga (Saudi Arabia), Enekia Kisonga (Mexico), Diana Lucas (Turkey) and Aisha Masaka (Britain).
“These players have demonstrated that it is possible to excel in professional football beyond our borders. We should continue to support and encourage others to follow in their footsteps,” Majaliwa said.

He also extended his gratitude to the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports for its role in facilitating opportunities for Tanzanian players to compete internationally.
Notably, Aisha Masaka has achieved a significant milestone as the first female Tanzanian to join the Women’s Super League, signing with Brighton & Hove Albion.
Her debut match is scheduled against Everton at Broadfield Stadium on September 21, attracting considerable interest from Tanzanians eager to see her performance.
“This is a dream come true for me. I have always wanted to play in one of the world’s prestigious leagues and I am thrilled to have achieved that goal,” Masaka said in an interview after joining the club.
