Mandonga, Maugo to fight in charity bout
DAR ES SALAAM: RENOWNED pugilist Karim Mandonga alias ‘Mtu Kazi’ and Mada Maugo are expected to trade punches in a charity fight that targets to provide health insurance to people living in vulnerable environments in Geita Region.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam, on Wednesday the Charity boxing organiser who is also the area Special Seats Member of Parliament Sophia Mwakagenda unveiled that the charity fight will be staged on July 28th this year.
She further noted that the funds collected from the game will go towards helping 2000 people in Dodoma, Mbeya, Coast, and Geita regions, adding that the event aims to support the government efforts in facilitating people’s access to health services.
“We as Lady in Red are going to make sure that we collect as much money as we can and reach the beneficiaries in the four regions,” she said.
She added that since 2016, they have been organising such events in collaboration with boxing stakeholders in the country and hence, called for support from the stakeholders to make the upcoming charity fight a success.

Speaking on the event, Mandonga said he is delighted to be one of the fighters and assured boxing fans that he will outdo his opponent Maugo, who knocked him last April in Morogoro.
The big-talking boxer announced the punch he will use to destroy his opponent as ‘Mbeku in their upcoming fight, saying: “I assure my fans to defeat my opponent, this time I have come with a punch dubbed Mbeku’ that will destroy Maugo.” On his part, Maugo said this time will be the last time for Mandonga to fight as he will make him retire from boxing with his punches known as ‘Pikitieli’.
Another, boxer who will be part of the event is Ibrahim Class, said he is ready to fight against his opponent, and he will use the opportunity to strengthen.
On the same day of the events, some Members of the Parliaments including Santiel Kilumba, Sylvia Sigula, Salome Makamba, Ngwasi Kamani will physically engage in the game as fighters.
