Malecela calls on public to maintain patriotism

DAR ES SALAAM: FORMER Vice-President and Prime Minister, John Malecela has emphasised members of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) to continue practicing patriotism and work tirelessly for the nation’s welfare.

The former Premier also commended the party for maintaining strong and good leadership under President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

He was speaking to CCM Secretary General, Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi who paid him a visit at his home in Dar es Salaam.

Mr Malecela, who is also the former Vice-Chairperson of CCM (Mainland) said that the implementation of CCM’s Election Manifesto is progressing well and that it has demonstrated the party’s genuine commitment to serving Tanzanians.

He insisted that the achievements of President Samia, particularly in infrastructure development, healthcare and education should inspire the party’s members to strengthen unity and support the leadership which is built on solid foundations of serving the people.

“CCM members should be role models of patriotism for others. This is our historic duty, which we must honour through actions,” said Malecela.

On his part, Dr Nchimbi thanked Malecela for his valuable insights and experience, which continue to be a great asset to both the party and the government.

He said that retired leaders like Malecela have been at the forefront, providing advice that helps strengthen the party’s performance in various areas.

“Your experience is a light for us. We continue to value your ideas, which have been a key pillar for both the party and the nation as a whole,” Dr Nchimbi said.

During the discussions, the former VP and Premier Malecela also called on CCM members to uphold the party’s unity and values, saying such qualities are among the foundations of the party’s success over the past 60 years since its founding.

He urged current CCM leaders to continue the good work they are doing, while ensuring they adhere to the principles of justice, transparency and accountability.

He pointed out that good leadership ethics have been a major driver of the public’s trust in CCM.

He said: “This is a time to work even harder, ensuring we continue to strengthen the development of our country, while respecting the party’s core commitment to serve the people.”
