Madina eyes to defend UGC Ladies Open title

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIAN golf sensation Madina Iddi has set her sights on claiming her third international title of the year.
Madina prepares to defend her crown at the UGC Ladies Open 2025 Tournament, which tees off today at the Uganda Golf Club (Kitante) in Kampala.
Representing Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC), Madina, returns to the par-72 course where she claimed a dominant fivestroke victory in 2024, outclassing Uganda’s Peace Kabasweka in a thrilling 54-hole battle.
After leading by two shots on t h e opening day with a round of 78, Madina built momentum in the second round with a 76 before closing with another 76 to clinch the title and valuable World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points.

Speaking from Arusha ahead of the tournament, Madina made it clear her determination to defend the title and continue her pursuit of WAGR success.
“I want to play this tournament for the WAGR points, but also as trials before the Uganda Ladies Open later this month,” she said.
“I will remain in Uganda working on my game, as I also want to defend my Uganda Ladies Open title.”
