Legal aid campaign uncovers hidden GBV

DODOMA: THE Mama Samia Legal Aid Campaign (MSLAC) has continued to restore hope for citizens facing long-standing legal and social challenges by providing support to individuals, who previously had limited access to justice and legal assistance.

The campaign has also uncovered cases of gender-based violence that for years remained hidden within households In Kingale Ward, Kondoa Town Council, the campaign has brought relief to Ms Gema Ndomeboi, who had endured prolonged domestic abuse from her husband after years of suffering in silence.

Speaking during the intervention, State Attorney Everett Magile Stephen from the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs said the legal team received reports of Ms Ndomeboi’s situation, prompting immediate action.

“Once we received the information, we worked with the Kingale Ward Executive Officer to verify the case and reach the victim so she could receive urgent legal support and access health services,” he said.

Ms Ndomeboi said the relationship, which began in 2006, took a violent turn in 2019, leading to repeated physical abuse that left her with serious injuries and long-term health complications.

Through the MSLAC campaign, she has since received medical care, while the suspect has been arrested and taken to Kondoa Police Station.

On May 13, 2026, he was presented in court for further legal action. The second phase of the Mama Samia Legal Aid Campaign is active across all districts in the Dodoma Region.

In Kondoa, the initiative has achieved significant success by resolving local community disputes and bringing previously hidden cases of violence to light.
