Lake Zone named top focus in Sports Academies expansion drive

DODOMA: THE Tanzanian government has continued to implement the construction of the sports academies based on a regional approach, with current efforts focused on the Lake Zone before expanding to other parts of the country, including constituencies such as Bumbuli.

This was announced today, February 4, 2026, in Parliament in Dodoma by the Deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Mr  Hamis Mwinjuma, while responding to a question from the Member of Parliament for Bumbuli, Engineer Ramadhani Hamza Singano.

In his question, MP Singano sought clarification on when the Government would establish a Sports Academy in Bumbuli Constituency, noting that a large area of land has already been set aside for the construction of sports fields and related infrastructure.

In response, Deputy Minister Mwinjuma stated that the Government recognizes the importance of bringing sports infrastructure services closer to citizens at regional, district, and constituency levels in order to nurture talent and strengthen the development of sports in the country.
