Kongwa DC orders timely completion of school project

KONGWA District Commissioner (DC), Remidius Mwema has ordered timely completion of construction of the new secondary school in Manungu Village, Sejeli Ward which is being built through the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP) at a cost of 544.2m/-.

Speaking in the district recently when he participated in school construction activities where citizens have volunteered to dig the foundation, the DC said that completion of this secondary school will solve the problem of children walking a long distance to get education.

“In collaboration with citizens, we have completed the stage of digging the foundation, other construction steps will be implemented through the SEQUIP Project at a cost of 544.2m/-,” he said.

He said that their expectation is to complete some of the buildings in the coming three months.

“We expect in the next three months, eight classrooms, three laboratories, administration block, library, IT Room, eight toilets, waste incinerator and ground water tank will be completed.

“Participation of these citizens provides a real interpretation of the need of this secondary school in this area,” he said.

He said that the completion of this school will ease student’s burden of walking a long distance of about eight kilometres to and from school.

“Kongwa District is extending its sincere gratitude to the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, for seeing the importance of solving this long-term problem,” he said.

He noted that their promise as Kongwa District to President Samia is to implement and manage this project at all stages and ensuring that construction is completed in time with value for money.

On his part, Sejeli Ward resident Paul Venance said that they are happy with the implementation of the school project because their children will not walk a long distance again as it was before.
