KIBAHA: KIBAHA Town Council has requested the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan to grant them a portion of undeveloped piece of land currently owned by Kibaha Education Centre (KEC) for economic and development purposes.
The request was made by the Council’s Chairman, Mr Mussa Ndomba, during the fourth-quarter meeting for the financial year 2023/2024.
He explained that the land, which has been undeveloped for many years, has become overgrown with bushes, posing safety risks to residents.
Mr Ndomba emphasised that the Council’s goal is to upgrade Kibaha Town into a municipal status.
He believes that acquiring this land would allow the Council to engage in various productive activities and address the current neglect of the area.
“We, the Councillors of Kibaha Town, are requesting President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s consent to allocate part of the land under KEC to us. This will enable us to utilise it for the development of our Council,” he said.

District Executive Director (DED) Dr Rogers Shemweleka encouraged the Councillors to be innovative and identify new sources of income to support the expansion of development projects.
During the meeting, Mr Karim Mtambo, Councillor for Picha ya Ndege Ward, was elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Council.
