Kengold hold JKT Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM: KENGOLD managed to hold JKT Tanzania to a 1-1 draw at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday, marking their fifth consecutive unbeaten match.

Despite the positive result, Kengold remain at the bottom of the league table with just 15 points, while JKT Tanzania sit in sixth place with 27 points after 22 matches.

Since the second half of the league resumed earlier this month, Kengold have played six matches, recording three draws, two wins, and one defeat.

This recent run has brought them a total of nine points from the six matches, which is a promising improvement, considering their low position on the table.

JKT Tanzania, on the other hand, have shown solid form over their last five matches, securing two wins, two draws and one loss.

Their recent record has earned them eight points from last five games. Yesterday’s encounter was a hard-fought, with JKT Tanzania taking the lead through a first-half penalty.

The referee awarded the penalty after Kengold’s defender, Abdallah Masoud, handled the ball in the box in the 45th minute while attempting to block a cross from Salum Khamis.

Edward Songo stepped up to take the penalty and calmly placed the ball into the back of the net, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

This gave the home side a 1-0 lead going into halftime. The second half continued with both teams creating chances, but lacked the composure to convert them into goals. However, with just few minutes remaining in the game, Kengold seized a crucial opportunity.

Selemani Bwenzi, who had been unmarked in the box, received a well-weighted pass from Haji Ugando after a quick series of passes. Bwenzi made no mistake and fired the ball into the net, levelling the score at 1-1.
