Katavi to distribute 4032 tablets to teachers

KATAVI Regional Commissioner, Ms Mwanamvua Mrindoko has issued two-day ultimatum to education officers in the region to ensure 4,032 tablets given by the government reach teachers.

She directed teachers to ensure they properly use the gadgets provided to them, so that they can yield the intended results.

RC issued the directive recently during a function to hand over 4,032 tablets to education officers, for them to be distributed to teachers in primary and secondary schools in the region.

“We won’t accept any mishandling of these tablets, they are not provided for taking photos and other social networking platforms, rather they are meant for improving teaching and learning in schools,” she emphasised.

On his part the Katavi Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) Mr Abas Rugwa said the provision of the gadgets is in line of empowering teachers in execution of their duties.

“These 4,032 tablets should be part of motivating teachers and enhance monitoring activities.

“You must take care of them because we shall closely follow up to find out if any of you have lost them and under what circumstances. If it comes into light that is due to sheer negligence, then you will be held responsible for not taking care of the government property,” he directed.

Katavi Regional Education Officer, Mr Lepidus Baganda thanked the government for providing the tablets, saying the devices will help to improve academic performance in the region.

“Obviously, these gadgets are going to help teachers and other education officers to get accurate and timely information to facilitate implementation of the education policy in the precinct,” he said.
