Kagera Sugar ‘stop’ Azam in four-goal thriller

Azam’s quest to stamp a ninth straight NBC Premier League victory has hit a post after being held to a 2-2 draw by Kagera Sugar on Friday night.

The two teams met at Kaitaba Stadium in Kagera, battling for maximum points but after the final whistle, they have shared spoils.

The hosting side surrendered a 2 nil lead in the second half as Idd Seleman and Idris Mbombo scored in the 68th and 87th minute respectively to cancel out Yusuf Mhilu and Meshack Abraham goals.

With the outcome, Simba could dislodge Azam from the second place if they manage to defeat Geita Gold at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza on Sunday.

Early on Friday, a 10-man Mtibwa Sugar were held to a 1-1 draw by Namungo at Manungu Complex in Morogoro.

The venue owners seized command of the game in the 78th minute through Omary Selemani only to be answered back in the 90th minute via Pateme Counou.

Later today, leaders Young Africans host Polisi Tanzania at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam while at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya, Tanzania Prisons face Singida Big Stars.
