Kagera RC calls for peace, compassion during Ramadan

KAGERA: KAGERA Regional Commissioner (RC), Colonel Ramadhan Kido has urged Muslims and all Tanzanians to increase prayers, charitable acts and good deeds throughout the holy month of Ramadan, while praying for continued peace and stability in the country.
He called on Kagera residents to preserve social unity, show compassion for the vulnerable, and foster better moral upbringing for children.
Col Kido made the remarks on Monday during a special ‘Zakat’ and ‘Iftar’ event organised by the Taawanu Islamic Organisation, which brought together vulnerable children from the ‘Uyacho’ and ‘Nussuru Yatima’ Children Centres in Bukoba Municipality.
“Peace and development depend on cohesive communities. Citizens should collectively preserve the tradition of solidarity and peaceful coexistence that has long defined Tanzania,” Col Kido said.

He praised the Taawanu Islamic Organisation for organising the event, describing it as a platform that unites Muslims and all citizens in promoting solidarity, love and national unity.
“Tanzania has a long history of peace and social cohesion. Cultural traditions of sharing and mutual support help strengthen social bonds. These values must be protected, and people should avoid actions that could cause divisions,” he emphasised.
With only a few days left in Ramadan, Col Kido encouraged citizens to use the time for reflection, forgiveness, and reconciliation, rejecting conflicts and hatred that undermine community wellbeing.
