Kadogosa orders contractor of Arusha–Kibaya–Kongwa road to meet contractual requirements

ARUSHA: THE Minister for Works, Masanja Kadogosa has ordered the contractor handling the 70-kilometre Mbauda–Losinyai and Tanganyika Packers–Losinyai sections of the Arusha–Kibaya–Kongwa road to meet contractual requirements and ensure the works are delivered to the required standards.
Mr Kadogosa issued the directive on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. during an inspection of Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) projects being implemented in Arusha as part of preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking at the scene, the minister said that 13 kilometres has been given priority for the tournament, comprising the 7.4-kilometre Mbauda–Arusha Bypass section and the 5.6-kilometre Tanganyika Packers–Kiserian section, both scheduled for completion by December 2026.

He further urged the contractor to use the project to build a strong performance record that could open opportunities for future road projects, stressing the need to complete the works on time, in full and according to required standards.

Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports and Arusha Urban MP, Paul Makonda said he expects the project to be completed on schedule, alongside installation of street lights, construction of bus stops and tree planting to improve the appearance of Arusha.
TANROADS Arusha Regional Manager Engineer Raginald Massawe said implementation of the 13-kilometre AFCON sections has reached 50.93 per cent, with the agency directing the contractor to increase resources, equipment and workforce to ensure completion within the planned time frame.
