JKT Queens seal Women’s League title
THE unbeaten JKT Queens claimed the Women’s League title following their emphatic 7-2 win over Mkwawa Queens at Samora Stadium in Iringa on Wednesday.
JKT Queens have dethroned the three-time holders Simba Queens.
JKT Queens have won after collecting 46 points as Simba Queens have ended their campaign with 45 points.
JKT Queens top players Stumai Athuman and Donisia Minja led their side to record the voluminous after each banking a hat-trick.
Stumai scored his goals in the 10th, 50th and 75th minutes while Donisia converted her goals in the 45th, 70th and 73rd minutes.
Isabella Mbwale scored one goal for the winners in the 41st minute.
Mkwawa’s goals came from Yasinta Bitoga and Janeth Segesela.
Their closest rival, Simba Queens, completed this season’s campaign second with 45 points after their 1-0 win over Ceasiaa Queens.
Jentrix Shikangwa’s 66th-minute goal gave Simba Queens the maximum points.
Simba Queens won the treble in 2021/22, 2020/21, and 2019/20 before JKT Queens retained it after missing it in the past three years.
Fountain Gate Princess, who completed third in the race, have collected 41 points. They ended their campaign with a 6-0 win.
Yanga Princess finished fourth with 34 points after beating Amani Queens 4-1 in their last encounter.
Alliance Queens finished fifth overall with 27 points.
Ceasiaa are sixth with 22 points, tied on points with Baobab Queens but are above them on superior goal average.
Amani Queens finished eighth with eight points but survived the relegation demon by a goal advantage against The Tigers Queens.
Therefore The Tigers Queens and Mkwawa Queens have been relegated and they will newly promoted teams Geita Queens and Bunda Queens.
