JKT duo Yakoub, Nangu join Simba
DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA SC has made a bold statement ahead of the 2025/26 season by signing two of Tanzania’s top young talents Yakoub Suleiman (pictured), Taifa Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper and Wilson Nangu, a highly-rated versatile defender.
Both players arrive from JKT Tanzania on three-year contracts, signalling Simba’s unwavering commitment to domestic excellence and continental glory.
At just 23 years old, Yakoub Suleiman is already acommanding presence between the posts.
Born in Zanzibar, Suleiman showcased his elite shot-stopping skills and composure throughout every match of the recent CHAN tournament, where Tanzania proudly cohosted alongside Kenya and Uganda.
His sharp reflexes and authoritative leadership have earned him widespread recognition and now he brings that same firepower to Simba SC.
Suleiman’s arrival bolsters a formidable goalkeeping unit alongside Moussa Camara and Hussein Abel,
offering head coach Fadlu Davids a wealth of options to fortify the club’s last line of defence.
His signing could not come at a more critical juncture as Simba prepares to battle on multiple fronts both in the fiercely competitive NBC Premier League and the prestigious CAF Champions League.
Adding further strength and versatility to the backline is 22-year-old Wilson Nangu, a composed and dynamic central defender renowned for his ability to excel across various defensive roles.
Following a series of standout performances with JKT Tanzania, Nangu’s rise has caught the attention of fans and scouts alike.
His arrival on a three-year deal injects fresh energy and resilience into Simba’s defence, perfectly complementing the club’s vision to dominate domestically and make a strong impact on the continental stage.

Nangu’s signing was met with widespread enthusiasm across Simba SC’s social media channels, where the fanbase warmly welcomed the promising defender to Msimbazi.
Despite intense last-minute efforts by rival clubs Yanga SC and Azam FC to sway him, Nangu remained steadfast in his decision to join Simba, citing a deep desire to develop under Coach Fadlu Davids’ guidance and contribute meaningfully to the club’s ambitious project.
Simba SC’s strategic recruitment drive also includes several other key signings to reinforce the squad’s depth and quality.
Notable additions are Rushine De Reuck, an experienced central defender from South Africa, formerly of Mamelodi Sundowns, expected to bring stability and leadership to the defensive line.
Jonathan Sowah a prolific Ghanaian forward from Singida Black Stars, poised to boost Simba’s attacking firepower with his goal-scoring prowess, also the club had recruited Alassane Kanté defensive midfielder from Senegal, acquired from Athlétique Bizertin (Tunisia), bringing valuable international experience to the midfield.
Also in the list are Morris Abraham a homegrown Tanzanian attacking midfielder who joined as a free agent, set to intensify competition within the squad and Miraj Abdallah talented leftback from Coastal Union, known for his attacking flair and defensive solidity on the flank.
All these players have been integrated into Simba’s preseason training camp in Ismailia, Egypt, as the club meticulously prepares for the challenges that lie ahead in both the NBC Premier League and CAF competitions.
