DAR ES SALAAM: THE Cricket Legends Reunion of Tanzania has garnered commendations from cricketing figures in Zimbabwe, Kenya and Uganda following the successful conclusion of its second Reunion Tour in Dar es Salaam.

Leaders from the three countries applauded Kanu Rathod, the group’s leader and his team for their outstanding efforts in organising the event.

The three-day tour that took place in Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo in Coast region, brought together legends from those living abroad and in Tanzania. Nick Chouhan, a former cricketer from Harare, Zimbabwe, expressed his gratitude in a letter to Rathod, saying: “I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks for inviting me to the Legends Cricketers Reunion.

Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances and logistical challenges, I was unable to attend. “Your leadership, commitment and organisational skills are truly commendable.

Bringing together legendary cricketers from diverse backgrounds showcases the power of sports in breaking barriers and fostering unity.

“From the photographs and social media updates, it’s clear the event was a resounding success. I regret missing the chance to meet fellow enthusiasts, but look forward to joining them next reunion,” he said.

Chouhan also extended his congratulations to everyone involved in the reunion event, wishing them continued success in promoting camaraderie among cricket fraternity.

Bharat Ghelani from Uganda echoed the sentiment, saying: “My heartfelt congratulations to you and the team for your incredible effort in planning and executing such a brilliant project for our legendary cricketers. I’m devastated that I couldn’t join you all, but I’m sure everyone enjoyed their time in Dar.”

Sandip Shah, Chairman of the Kenya Past Cricketers Reunion, also expressed his appreciation to the organising team for the event success. “It brings us immense joy to see Tanzanian cricket legends come together in such a wellorganised and memorable manner.

Your dedication not only strengthens camaraderie within the cricketing community but sets a wonderful example for younger generations aspiring to follow in the footsteps of these remarkable players,” he said.

He wished the committee and all legends who participated a continued success and hoped the spirit of unity and love for the game flourishes under Rathod’s guidance, further strengthening ties among the cricketing community in East Africa.

Subhash Modi, a former ICC umpire from Kenya, praised Senior Administrator Dinesh Vaishnav, Rathod, Bashir Tejani, Kishore Gajjar, IT Convener Jigar Suchak and the entire organising team.

He acknowledged their hard work and sacrifices in making the second edition of the tour a highly successful and memorable event, with significant support from the Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) and its Chairman, Balakrishan Sreekumar.

Modi also recognised the contributions of Upanga Sports Club, Dar es Salaam Gymkhana, Patel Brotherhood and all sponsors, supporters and well-wishers for their roles in making the reunion a great success.
