Immigration deports Iranian national

THE Tanzania Immigration Service Department has cautioned Tanzanians against assisting foreigners to acquire forged documents so that they can live and work in the country.
The immigration authorities sounded the warning on Tuesday when they announced the deportation of an Iranian national with passport No H46000576 bearing the name Hamidreza Mohammad Abraheh.
Immigration Border Management and Control Commissioner Samwel Mahirane said the Iranian citizen has been deported after being found guilty of using forged documents to obtain multiple visas which is contrary to the law.
“The immigration offences committed by this Iranian citizen include submitting various documents of the Tanzanian government, including a forged marriage certificate which he used to apply for a multiple visa, “Commissioner Mahirane said.
He further added that after being arrested and thoroughly interrogated, it was confirmed that he was a criminal engaging in activities that endanger the country’s security.
In a related devepoment, Commissioner Mahirane unveiled that the Immigration is holding Tanzanians who assisted the foreigner to obtain the said documents.
The Commissioner further noted that there has been a significant increase in the number of visitors entering the country through various entry points between January and November this year, whereby a total of 1,172,205 foreigners entered the country legally and by following the country’s procedures while other 983,189 foreigners left the country.
Expounding on illegal immigrants in the country from January to November this year, he said a total of 18,289 foreigners were arrested for committing various immigration offenses.
“The Immigration Department continues to conduct inspections, searches, patrols and operations by collaborating with other security organs, whereby a total of 18,289 foreigners were arrested for committing various offenses and measures were taken against them,” he said.
They include 13,087 foreigners who were expelled from the country, 2,632 visitors who were brought before the court and given various punishments, including being jailed and fined while 620 visitors their cases are still going on and 1,063 foreigners were taken for further investigation while 887 visitors legalised their stay in the country.
In response to the state of protection and security and Immigration services in the period of Christmas and New Year holidays, he assured all foreigners who like to visit Tanzania that the services will continue to be provided with high professionalism in collaboration with other security organs, adding that the safety of visitors and citizens in general will be given priority.
