IIA Forum to spur Arusha business tourism

ARUSHA: ARUSHA is set to receive a boost to business and conference tourism as more than 1,800 delegates are expected to attend the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) annual governance forum and related events next month.

The five-day gathering, scheduled for September 21- 25, will bring together government officials, business leaders, policymakers and internal audit professionals from Tanzania and abroad, according to IIA Tanzania.

The forum, expected to be officiated by Prime Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, will bring together the 13th Annual Governance Forum, 3rd IIA Academy and 19th Annual Internal Audit Conference.

Held under the theme “Beyond Assurance: Driving Insight, Innovation and Trust,” the events will focus on governance, accountability, emerging risks, technological innovation and the evolving role of internal audit.

IIA Tanzania said in a statement that the gathering would also create opportunities for networking, institutional partnerships, exhibitions and business engagement, linking organisations with professionals and decision-makers from different sectors.

The influx of delegates is expected to benefit hotels, restaurants, transport companies, tour operators and other local businesses, while strengthening Arusha’s position as a destination for conferences and business tourism.

“The impact will also be felt across the local economy,” IIA Tanzania said, noting that the event would create opportunities for service providers while positioning Arusha as a competitive destination for international professional gatherings.

Beyond the conference programme, delegates will have opportunities to visit attractions including Arusha National Park, Mount Meru and Lake Duluti, as well as cultural and heritage sites and other destinations along the northern tourism circuit.

The forum is expected to provide a platform for Tanzanian businesses to engage directly with international professionals and institutions, potentially opening opportunities for partnerships and new commercial relationships.
