DAR ES SALAAM: HEAVENLY Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) Tanzania branch has called on countries worldwide to support the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) to ensure its adoption by heads of state, ultimately helping to save lives affected by war.
The resolution, drafted by 21 lawyers from 15 nations, has already been signed by 34 countries.
However, Tanzania has yet to sign as HWPL officials said they are in discussions to engage President Samia Suluhu Hassan on the importance of signing the resolution.
Before that, they aim to educate the Tanzanian community on its significance.
Speaking to Daily News Digital over the weekend during the ninth anniversary of the resolution, HWPL Chairman Dr. Erick Martin emphasized that the resolution seeks to reform ineffective United Nations laws that have failed to prevent conflicts.”
This is a resolution that, if passed into law, will help end wars globally. Some existing laws allow nuclear weapons and arms possession, while others lack effective strategies to resolve border disputes between nations,” he explained.

Dr. Martin added that for the resolution to become an international law, it needs the support of at least 70 percent of the world’s countries.
Among those who participated in the commemoration was Bishop Dr. Aloyce Shulukindo, who highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and stability in Tanzania.
“If you look at Lebanon and other war-torn countries, there is no peace. May God bless Tanzania to remain stable, united, and radical in ensuring a peaceful future for the next generations,” he said.
Similarly, Sheikh Majali Selemani, Chairman of the Peace and Reconciliation Community (JMAT) in Kinondoni District, praised HWPL leaders for their commitment to global peace.”
The initiative to encourage world leaders to sign this resolution is commendable. The goal is to see a world free from nuclear weapons and violence, and we should all support this cause,” he said.
The push for the DPCW highlights a growing global movement toward securing lasting peace through legal frameworks that prioritize disarmament, conflict prevention, and reconciliation
