DAR ES SALAAM: MUHIMBILI University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) has commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for bolstering diplomatic relations between Tanzania and other countries, a move that has increased cooperation between the institution and other health universities worldwide.
Addressing a delegation of 30 students from Stanford Graduate School of Business in California who visited the country on Friday to understand the healthcare landscape, MUHAS Vice-Chancellor Professor Appolinary Kamuhabwa said that the government had made significant efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations with other countries, which is encouraging the influx of foreign students pursuing various academic programmes at the university.
Besides the students coming to the university for exchange programmes, statistics show that in the past academic year, MUHAS enrolled a number of foreign students at the master’s programme.
Those students, who come from countries such as US, Germany, the UK, Kenya, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Comoros and the Seychelles islands, make up about 10 per cent.
“First, we are very grateful to the government, because without creating a friendly climate for cooperation, I believe it would not have been possible. I thank President Samia Suluhu Hassan for creating good environment for cooperation between the government of Tanzania and other foreign governments,” MUHAS boss stressed.
Adding “When the government has good relations with other countries, it becomes easier for us (government institutions), to establish cooperation in various areas with those countries.”
