DAR ES SALAAM: DR Dorothy Gwajima, Minister for Social Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, has emphasised the importance of enhanced cooperation between the government and private sector stakeholders to promote development and social welfare.
Dr Gwajima took the stance while launching development projects coordinated by Keko Mwanga Ward Councillor Jasdeep Singh Babhra in Temeke District, Dar es Salaam, over the weekend.
She noted that the supportive environment established by the sixth phase government offers an opportunity for leaders at all levels to build strong relationships with their communities and development partners.
“I have visited and seen these projects in this ward, including a maternity ward, a modern kitchen serving 1,500 students at Keko Mwanga Primary School and eight new toilet facilities, all at a cost of approximately 200m/-.
As the Minister for Social Development, I am pleased with these initiatives because they benefit women and children,” Dr Gwajima stated.
The minister also visited a textile factory owned by Councillor Babhra and expressed satisfaction with the investment that supports the local community, particularly women.

In the course, Dr Gwajima congratulated the councillor for collaborating with private sector stakeholders to advance community development, aligning with the government’s vision under President Samia Suluhu Hassan to address local challenges.
She emphasised that these projects will provide pregnant women in the constituency with better access to health services and improve the health environment for students through enhanced toilet facilities and access to nutritious food.
This, she said, will help reduce absenteeism and violence against students, thereby enhancing academic performance.
Additionally, Minister Gwajima urged community members to sustain these projects to maximise their benefits.
She reminded them to participate in the upcoming local government elections by voting for local leaders on November 27 of this year.
