Grab global scholarships, Tanzanians urged

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIANS have been encouraged to take advantage of the full academic scholarship offered by various universities abroad. Executive Director of Global Education Link (GEL), Mr Abdulmalik Mollel, issued the call during the ongoing foreign universities exhibition held in Dar es Salaam.
The exhibition is also scheduled to take place in other regions, including Arusha and Dodoma. He said that during the exhibition, students aspiring to pursue various courses abroad could secure scholarships ranging from 20 to 100 per cent of their tuition fees.
“At this exhibition held in Dar es Salaam, there are three foreign universities that offer 100 per cent scholarship for individuals wishing to pursue Master’s and PhD degrees. We view this as a very good opportunity for Tanzanians,” he said.
He added that the exhibition also serves as a career guidance platform, offering students counselling on academic programmes abroad, as many are often unaware of which universities offer their preferred courses.
“It has become common for students to miss out on places in local universities due to limited space, as demand is high. Now, at these exhibitions, there are about 20 universities. You choose the university and where you want to study early,” said Mollel.

He said the response to the Dar es Salaam exhibition has been excellent, with students eager to study abroad attending in large numbers, and many of them receiving on-the-spot admission.
Mr Mollel said that the participating universities are accredited in their respective countries and recognised by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), assuring students of quality education at globally recognised institutions.
He noted that many of these universities specialise in technology and engineering and have contributed significantly to producing professionals in their home countries—strengthening those nations’ economies in the process.
Mollel said that after the Dar es Salaam event, similar exhibitions will be held in Arusha and Dodoma regions, continuing efforts to connect Tanzanian students with global learning opportunities.
