Govt urges farmers to sustain exhibition participation
ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR Minister for Agriculture, Irrigation, Natural Resources and Livestock, Mr Suleiman Masoud Makame, has urged farmers and entrepreneurs to sustain their participation in agricultural exhibitions.
He said continued participation will enable them to benefit from various initiatives being implemented by the government through the Ministry of Agriculture to support their development.
Mr Makame made the call while closing the 10th Zanzibar Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition, which attracted more than 498 exhibitors from Pemba, Tanzania Mainland, Uganda and host Unguja, up from 340 last year.
He said the rise in participation reflected growing public and business interest in agricultural exhibitions, which provide platforms for farmers and entrepreneurs to showcase their products, access markets and establish business links.
The minister urged exhibitors to assess the quality of their products and services and make greater efforts to improve them to remain competitive and generate better returns.

He said participation in agricultural exhibitions was an important component of government efforts to help farmers and entrepreneurs expand their businesses, increase production and access wider markets.
Mr Makame commended all participants for taking part in the exhibition and urged them to use the platforms to promote their products, strengthen their businesses and increase their incomes.
For her part, National Identification Authority (NIDA) Zanzibar Office Information Officer, Ms Salha Ali Hamadi, expressed satisfaction after receiving a certificate of participation in the exhibition.
She said NIDA had served more than 600 people during the event, helping some obtain their national identification cards.
Ms Hamadi said NIDA would continue improving its services during future exhibitions, describing them as important opportunities to educate the public and promote various government services.
