Govt praises KOICA’s contribution towards achieving 2050 Vision

DAR ES SALAAM: THE GOVERNMENT has praised the contribution from the Korean Government through its International Development Agency – Korea International Corporation Agency (KOICA) in socio-economic sectors, especially in the implementation of the 2025- 2050 Development Vision.
The 2025-2050 Development Vision aims at improving lives of the people in the areas of health, education and economy.
Deputy Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, Mr Xavier Daud made the statement recently while launching a one-day World Friends Korea (WFK) Partners workshop in Dar es Salaam.
He stated that Technical Support in different areas of development is one of many benefits which Tanzania has been gaining from the relationship and has brought about many positive changes to the development of the country and the people.
“The technical support we get from KOICA’s Volunteers has enhanced government capacity in delivering good services. This is a very important factor in strengthening the Public Service Sector and towards achieving our 2050 Development goals,” he said.
He went on to say that KOICA’s Volunteers who come to work in the country don’t only bring their expertise, but they also share their experiences and knowledge which is very vital.
KOICA’s Country Director, Mr Manshik Shin said that KOICA has supported various types of programmes for the socio-economic development of Tanzanian people since its establishment in 1991.
He named some of the programmes which are implemented in the country as Country Partnership programme, World Friends Korea (WFK) programme, Fellowship programme, Civil Society Cooperation programme, Development Innovation programme and multi-bilateral cooperation programme.
“Each programme has attained commendable achievements with great impacts contributing to the socio economic development of Tanzanian people,” he added.
Mr Shin also mentioned that to date, a total of 2,400 KOICA volunteers has been sent to work in schools, colleges and hospitals in different towns across Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.
WFK Partners Workshop is an annual event where KOICA meets with representatives of institutions which host its volunteers as well as government officials to exchange ideas on ways to strengthen collaboration between the two sides.
