DODOMA: THE government is finalizing regulations to protect local contractors under the newly-amended Public Procurement Act.
The Minister for Finance, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba said the regulations are sought to enable local contractors to operate efficiently.
The minister was responding to a supplementary question posed by Temeke MP, Dorothy Kilave (CCM). The MP sought the government’s clarification on delayed payments for local contractors.
The MP also wanted to know what the government was doing to resolve the challenge since the delay starts with the failure to pay foreign contractors who later subcontract local contractors.
