Govt determined to improve workers’ welfare, security at workplaces

ZANZIBAR: THE government is determined to improve workers’ welfare and security at the workplaces to create conducive environment, Second Vice-President Hemed Suleiman Abdulla has pledged.
Opening the Workers’ Day celebration’s exhibitions at Kizimkazi Dimbani in South Unguja, the Second Vice-President assured that the government will ensure all workers enjoy their rights as per employment laws in the country.
He pledged conducive working environment to all workers, saying the government is determined to construct modern office buildings, provide working tools and training to boost productivity in the public sector.
The third in the country’s hierarchy of command reminded workers of their rights and responsibilities in execution of duties, directing them to observe laws and regulations to reduce complaints in the work places.
He asked the Zanzibar Trade Union Congress (ZATUC) leaders to closely supervise and inspire their members to work hard and efficiently provide superb services to wananchi.
The Second Vice-President assured of the government determination to work closely with the trade unions to jointly build the country and create conducive work environment for workers.
He reminded Zanzibaris of the importance to sustain peace, which is the national priority, advising them to refuse any element of hatred and conflicts, among themselves and between wananchi and their government in the interest of few selfish individuals.

Minister of State, State House, Ali Suleiman Ameir affirmed the government’s commitment to sustain various policies, laws and regulations on employees’ welfare to reduce many challenges that workers face in the public and private sectors.
He said the government has been providing various opportunities including training and working tools to enable workers perform their duties more efficiently.
ZATUC Chairman Seif Mohamed Seif said the congress is always working closely with the government to deliberate on various issues that pertain to the workers’ welfare, including opportunities, benefits, challenges and strategies to improve workers’ welfare.
The chairman pledged to mobilise workers in the public and private sectors to work hard and innovatively build a nation of competent workers who are aware of their rights and responsibilities.
