THE government has commanded a US-based organization -AHEAD Inc – for the support in various sectors including health and education.
Bukoba DC Education Officer in charge of secondary education , Mr Morega Mongate expressed appreciation recently while receiving a set of ten computers worth 13m/-, donated by AHEAD Inc to Maruku secondary school.
A few months ago, AHEAD Inc Tanzania in collaboration with AHEAD Inc diaspora (USA), also donated equipment worth 214.4m/-, including a sonogram machine with printer, a universal anesthesia and an ultrasound machine.
Other equipment include a blood bank refrigerator, a refrigerator freezer components for pharmaceutical materials, a screen folding with curtains and a blood grouping reagents kit.
“On behalf of the government I sincerely thank Ahead Inc Tanzania and the diaspora for supporting the government efforts in improving education and health services. This is a good example worth to be emulated,” he said
Ahead Inc Executive Director, Dr Apolinary Ngirwa informed him that Tanzanians in the diaspora in collaboration with AHEAD Tanzania were committed to support government efforts in improving people’s lives.
“AHEAD Inc members were giving contributions which are normally channeled through AHEAD Tanzania. We are committed to continuing extending support to Tanzania to ensure people’s livelihoods are improved,” he said.
Elaborating, he said, two years ago, the organisation supported Bukara Secondary school, also in Bukoba Rural District by connecting electricity, constructed improved toilets and water harvesting tanks.
Head Mistress for Maruku Secondary School, Ms Farida Abbas, on the other hand, thanked the donors for the support which had enabled students pursuing ICT studies to improve the teaching and learning process.
“In the past only eight to ten students were able to access ICT studies due to shortage of computers. With the added computers about 36 students can access computer technology,” she said.
One of the students, Lineth Raphael (17), a Form Four students, could not hide her joy, saying the donated computers would assist students hailing from poor families to access ICT knowledge which would also assist them in future life.
