Golfers set for March Challenge tourney at Sea Cliff Zanzibar

DAR ES SALAAM: GOLF enthusiasts are preparing for the upcoming March Golf Challenge, an 18-hole Stableford competition scheduled for later this month at the scenic golf course of Sea Cliff Resort & Spa Zanzibar.

The tournament offers players a chance to compete on one of Zanzibar’s most picturesque courses overlooking the Indian Ocean while enjoying a day filled with sport, networking and camaraderie among fellow golfers.

According to the Sea Cliff Golf Club manager Sophie Nyanjera preparations for the event are on top gear.

Participants will pay an entry fee of 53 US dollars, a package that includes the green fee, golf cart, driving range practice session, lunch and two bottles of water according to the organisers.

In a major boost for early registrants, United Petroleum has stepped in to support the event by covering 50 per cent of the entry fee for the first 20 golfers who register.

The sponsorship initiative is being coordinated through the club’s vice-captain, Collins Chemngorem, who encouraged golfers to take advantage of the limited offer before the available slots are filled.

“The sponsorship is open to all golfers, including nonmembers of the Sea Cliff Golf Club, making the competition accessible to a wider golfing community,” said Nyanjera.

Organisers say the tournament will conclude with a post-competition gathering, offering participants and club members an opportunity to relax, socialise and celebrate the day’s play after the round.

Twenty golfers have already confirmed their participation so far, to benefit from the subsidised entry.

The March Golf Challenge is supported by several partners, including United Petroleum, ZMMI, Mpola Halisi Coffee, Zanzi Resort, Villa Kiva Resort Zanzibar, RK Sadricko, Auric Air, Esoma and among others.

Interested golfers have been encouraged to register early by contacting the club through the numbers provided on the event poster.

With its breathtaking ocean backdrop, competitive format and strong sponsor backing, the March Golf Challenge is expected to deliver a memorable day on the greens in Zanzibar.

The monthly challenge tournament returns to Sea Cliff following the February break during the Ramadan period, when the usual competition schedule was replaced by the Valentine’s Couples Challenge.

During that event, Andrew Chung and Joe Tango stole the spotlight and claimed the overall title with an impressive 52 points, producing one of the standout performances on the Sea Cliff course this season.
