Fountain Gate feat heightens Tanzania

PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has lauded brave Fountain Gate girls and the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports for its commitment in making Tanzanian sportsmen and women perform well in international level competitions.

The PM made the revelation when he met with the team’s players and officials in Dodoma yesterday.

During the event, the PM also directed the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports and the President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government ministry to ensure that the sports sector continues to be given priority at all levels in the country.

“I take this opportunity to congratulate the management of Fountain Gate and Alliance schools of Mwanza for supporting the Government’s efforts in supporting  development of sports in the country, we thank you very much and I believe you will continue to do well in other sports.

“Am also using this chance to congratulate the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports for continuing to do well in the development of its sectors. I also congratulate the football governing body, TFF for making changes in the federation that has now brought success to the game.

“I request the ministry to make sure that sports subject is introduced in school’s curriculum there sports teachers in Malya and Butimba colleges. So, they should use this chance to use them,” said the PM.

He said the amount of money donated by the President Samia Suluhu for the pupils and the technical bench is part of the presidential motivation to the brave girls.

In retrospect, the National Assembly speaker, Tulia Ackson has also lauded the Fountain Gate girls for their remarkable achievement in the CAF African Schools Football Championship.

The congratulatory message was given after the team arrived in the Parliament in Dodoma as special guests yesterday.

‘’I welcome you all in the Parliament session and I congratulate you as well for representing well the nation in the CAF African Schools Football Championship,’’ she said.

The CAF School Championship winners were accompanied with various officials from TFF, including its President, Wallace Karia  as well as  the Permanent Secretary in the  Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports, Saidi Yakubu.

Neema Msitha, who is the Executive Secretary of National Sports Council(NSC) also attended occasion alongside Fountain Gate officials.

Besides winning the coveted trophy Fountain Gate girls were awarded 300,000 US dollars and 10m/- cash prizes from the government.

President Samia also lauded he brave girls and them through her Instagram page as she wrote: “I congratulate Fountain Gate Secondary School for winning the CAF African Schools Continental Champions in the girl’s category.

“Your victory goes hand in hand with the government’s policy to improve the education syllabus that aims to enhance both education and talents.

Winifrida Hubert who was the tournament’s best player and as well as top scorer netting 11 goals in four matches of the tournament.
