FEDERATION CUP: Simba, Azam in titans final

PEMBA: TANZANIAN football giants Simba SC and Azam FC will battle for the Federation Cup title today at Gombani Stadium in Pemba, with both sides expressing confidence ahead of what promises to be a thrilling final.

The two teams booked places in the title decider in impressive fashion. Simba cruised past Coastal Union 4-0 in the semi-finals in Arusha, while Azam edged Young Africans 3-2 in a pulsating encounter at Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.

Simba Head Coach, Steve Barker, said his team are well prepared and determined to cap the competition by lifting the trophy, despite acknowledging the quality of their opponents.

“Azam are a well-organised team with quality players and a strong technical bench. We know it won’t be an easy match, but we have prepared well and are determined to win this cup,” Barker said.

“I have confidence in my players. They have shown commitment and hunger throughout the tournament and I believe we have what it takes to become champions.” Azam Head Coach, Florent Ibenge, said reaching the final leaves his side with only one objective. “If you are in the final, you want to win it,” the Congolese tactician said.

“We know Simba are a very strong team and it will be a difficult match, but we will do everything possible to bring the trophy home for our supporters.” Ibenge urged his players to remain disciplined and take their chances when they arise.
