Fadlu hails Simba’s pressing

DAR ES SALAAM:SIMBA‘S Coach Fadlu Davids has expressed satisfaction with his side’s 6-0 win against Dodoma Jiji, praising their mentality and relentless pressing from the outset.

He made the remarks during a post-match interview at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam on Friday. Simba’s win secured them 57th points of the league season and positioning themselves just one point behind league leaders Young Africans.

“We could have scored much more today. The mentality was good from the start to press them higher. Even though it was 35°C, we maintained our pressure throughout the first half and the performance was fantastic,” he said.

Simba’s attacking force was in full flow, with goals coming in abundance, but Fadlu underscored that the team’s approach wasn’t just about scoring but about maintaining control.

“We knew their team tries to build up, especially with the goalkeeper; so, we focused on stealing balls and winning possession, even in their box,” he added.

Fadlu also praised the performances of players like Kibu Denis, who found the net after a challenging season, stating: “There was no doubt about Kibu Denis,” said Fadlu.

“He’s scored important goals for us this season, and it’s just a matter of time before he gets back to scoring. He deserves it because he works hard and stays in good positions.”

The coach cheered the contributions of right-back David Kameta, who delivered another strong performance, and lauded the preparedness of all players to step up when called upon.

“He’s been patient and always ready when called up. It was a tough first round, but he has worked hard and today he was fantastic.”

On the other side of the pitch, Dodoma Jiji Coach Mecky Mexime acknowledged his team’s struggles against Simba’s high-profile side.

“Simba were better today. When you face such a team, you need to be smarter in containing them, but we failed to do so. They pressed us relentlessly, won the ball back frequently and were composed in their passing and movement,” he admitted.

Following the results, Dodoma Jiji remain at eighth position with 27 points.
