Eid-el Maulud: Majaliwa calls for peace, unity
Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has called on Muslims across the country to use the Maulid celebrations as an opportunity to promote love, integrity, and strengthen national unity and solidarity.
Delivering President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s message on Monday during the Maulid Council meeting in Geita Region, “Maulid and Peace: Uphold Ethics, Economy, and Participate in Elections” Majaliwa also encouraged believers to embrace positive changes in their lives through ethical living, education, and economic growth.
Furthermore, he said President Samia has called on the Muslims to use these celebrations to listen to the guidance of religious leaders on the importance of peace, unity, and stability in the country.
He also highlighted that the government is committed to formally integrate religious studies into the education curriculum, from early childhood to higher education levels, with examinations conducted as part of the standard national curriculum, both Islamic Knowledge and Bible Knowledge and it is contributing to students’ GPA.
“The government is reviewing and amending areas where there are shortcomings. We welcome your advice on where improvements are needed,” he added.
He reassured the public that the government will take strict action against anyone involved in activities that threaten the nation’s peace.
He urged citizens to trust the government and its security agencies to maintain safety and order.
“The government will not turn a blind eye to those disrupting peace. We will uphold the law and protect the stability of this nation,” he stressed.
The Prime Minister also called on communities to cooperate with security forces in maintaining peace, noting that the public plays a key role in identifying potential threats.
On his part Secretary General of the Council of Muslims in Tanzania, Alhaj Nuhu Mruma urged citizens to fully participate in the ongoing voter registration process to secure their right to vote and run for office.
Mruma also voiced BAKWATA’s support for President Samia’s stance against acts of violence and urged security agencies to conduct thorough, independent investigations.
Tanzania’s Chief Mufti, Dr. Abubakar Zuberi Bin Ally, echoed the Prime Minister’s message, urging Muslims to safeguard peace by refraining from actions that could lead to unrest.
“Maintaining peace is a duty of every Muslim as commanded by the Prophet, and it is essential to completing a life of faith,” Sheikh Abubakar said, adding that patriotism and care for the country are responsibilities shared by all citizens.
“We must protect our nation from harm, as God has warned us against destroying peace. A nation with abundant resources can still face punishment if its people fail to maintain harmony,” he concluded.
