Dr Mwinyi urges the CCM-ACT Wazalendo committee to prioritise constructive,unifying politics

ZANZIBAR: President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Mwinyi, has urged the joint committee of CCM and ACT Wazalendo to prioritise citizens’ expectations for constructive and unifying politics that seek solutions rather than deepen conflicts.
Speaking today, September 14, 2026, during the launch of the committee, Dr Mwinyi said citizens expect the reconciliation process to deliver peace, stability and development that will bring tangible improvements to their daily lives.
He thanked leaders and all those who participated in the initial dialogue, including retired leaders, for their contributions towards advancing the process to the establishment of the joint committee.
Dr Mwinyi said the committee is expected to complete its responsibilities within three months. However, he noted that the period could be extended for a short time if there are compelling reasons.

He pledged that leaders of CCM and ACT Wazalendo are ready to provide support whenever challenges arise to ensure that the objectives of the reconciliation process are achieved.
Dr Mwinyi officially launched the joint committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of the Joint Declaration of July 9, 2026.
