Dr Mwinyi is set to flag off the Uhuru Torch race

ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR’S President, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has arrived at the Gombani Stadium in Pemba ready for the national launch of the 2026 Uhuru Torch race.
The event is expected to draw top government leaders and members of the public.
The launch marks the official start of this year’s Uhuru Torch race, a key national event aimed at promoting unity, accelerating socio-economic development, and reinforcing peace across the country.

This year’s race is guided by the theme: “Tanzania belongs to all of us; let us unite to bring development,” a call that underscores the importance of collective responsibility and cooperation in driving national progress.
