Dr Mwinyi hails DOC Medical Center’s services in tour to deepen Tanzania-Qatar ties

QATAR: ZANZIBAR President, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has visited DOC Medical Center in Qatar, a healthcare facility that provides services through eight specialised medical departments under its founder and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Emmanuel Tolessa.
During the visit today, October 9, President Mwinyi expressed interest in the services offered by the centre as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between Tanzania and DOC Medical Center in the healthcare sector.
The proposed partnership aims to establish a hospital in Tanzania through collaboration involving the Ministry of Health of the United Republic of Tanzania and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and the Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF).

Under the arrangement, DOC Medical Center is expected to contribute medical equipment, healthcare specialists and some doctors to improve access to healthcare services in Tanzania. The project also aims to establish hospital and pharmacy services, with completion expected before the start of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
DOC Medical Center has experience providing healthcare services at major international events, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar.
President Mwinyi concluded his official visit to Qatar on Friday and is expected to travel to Madrid, Spain, to continue his tour.
