Tanzania, Qatar explores ways to broaden their ties in health sector

NEW YORK: THE Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Dr Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has held talks with Qatar’s Prime Minister’s Adviser for Public Health Affairs, Dr Hanan Mohamed, on ways to strengthen cooperation between Tanzania and Qatar, particularly in the health sector.
The two met on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States, where they also exchanged views on various global health and development issues.
Minister Kombo commended the Government of Qatar for its important contribution to global development and its longstanding support for international health and development agendas.

He also conveyed a message from President Samia Suluhu Hassan, reaffirming Tanzania’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation, particularly in the health sector, as part of efforts to improve people’s wellbeing and build a healthy nation with sustainable development.
For her part, Dr Al Kuwari presented her vision and priorities for the World Health Organization (WHO) and exchanged views with Minister Kombo on ways to address global health challenges, strengthen health systems and enhance countries’ capacity to respond to health emergencies.
