DCA set pace in VPL U19 tournament
DAR ES SALAAM: DCA maintained perfect start to the Vidra Premier League (VPL) Season One U19 Cricket Night Tournament after securing two more victories at Patel Samaj Ground in Dar es Salaam.
The results saw DCA strengthen their position at the top of the five-team standings, with eight points from four matches, maintaining a 100 per cent winning record.
DCA defeated Future Force by 24 runs on Thursday night after posting 72 for two in their allotted six overs before restricting their opponents to 48 for five.
The victory followed earlier wins over Ghanshyam 11, Harab Motors and Caravans Elite, keeping DCA firmly in control of the competition with an impressive net run rate of 5.3605.
Caravans Elite occupy second place with six points from four matches, having won three games.
They secured a 12-run victory over Harab Motors on Wednesday after scoring 40 for six and restricting their opponents to 28 for four.
Future Force are third with two points from three matches, while Harab Motors and Ghanshyam 11 are still searching for their first victories of the tournament.
Caravans Elite have also enjoyed a strong campaign, recording convincing victories over Ghanshyam 11 and Future Force.
They defeated Ghanshyam 11 by 72 runs on September 7 after posting 96 for two, with their opponents managing only 24 for two.

DCA had earlier beaten Ghanshyam 11 by 52 runs after scoring 75 for one and restricting them to 23 for five.
They also defeated Harab Motors by five wickets after successfully chasing a target of 27 runs with 3.3 overs remaining.
The U19 competition forms part of the wider VPL Season One Night Tournament, which started on September 1 at Patel Samaj Ground.
The senior tournament has attracted 23 teams divided into three groups: A, B and C with matches being played every night throughout the month-long competition.
Organisers Vishal Patel and Mukesh Suthar said the tournament was progressing well, with the championship final scheduled for September 25.
They noted that the competition is providing an important platform for players to showcase their talent while promoting cricket among young players and the wider sporting community.
