‘Davids to restore Simba’s glory’

DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA Sports Club management has expressed full confidence in the newly appointed Head Coach, Fadlu Davids, believing he will lead the team to success in the upcoming 2024/25 season.

The South African coach was officially unveiled on Friday, succeeding Abdelhak Benchika, and has signed a two-year deal with the Msimbazi Street giants. Simba SC Media and Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally, celebrated Davids, as a highly qualified coach, with the potential to restore the club’s glory during his tenure.

“He is the coach we’ve been seeking, and we have no doubt that he and his technical team will do an excellent job in bringing back the golden days of our club.

We need to give him our full cooperation, and I’d like to thank Simba management for successfully bringing him on board,” said Ally.

Prior to joining Simba, the 43-year-old Davids  served as an Assistant Coach at Raja Casablanca. Of Morocco.

According to information from the Simba App, he favours a 4-2-3-1 formation and has previously managed South African teams, Maritzburg United and Orlando Pirates.

He also gained experience as Assistant Coach at Russian side, Lokomotiv Moscow. In conjunction with Davids’ appointment, the club announced its full technical panel, including Assistant Coach Darian Wilken, Goalkeeping Coach Wayne Sandilands, Fitness Coach Riedoh Berdien, and Analyst Mueez Kajee, all from South Africa.

In another development, Simba introduced Augustine Okajepha, a defensive midfielder from Nigeria’s Rivers United, who has signed a three-year contract.

According to the Simba App, Okajepha was voted Best Player of the Season in the Nigerian Premier League last season, contributing one goal and two assists.

He was also named Player of the Month twice and featured in the CAF Confederation Cup’s Best Team of the Season on two occasions.
