DAREVA League 2025 Season kicks off today

DAR ES SALAAM: THE much-anticipated Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball Association (DAREVA) League 2025 begins today.

The volleyball league will take action at the Kampala International University of Tanzania (KIUT) venue in Dar es Salaam.

DAREVA official Nassoro Sharifu said yesterday that preparation is finalised for the league, one of Tanzania’s premier volleyball competitions, which bring together 30 top teams in a battle for dominance, skill and glory.

“This year’s tournament will feature 17 men’s teams and 13 women’s teams, all competing for the coveted league titles,” Sharifu said.

He said the competition is divided into Serie A and Serie B for both men and women, ensuring a competitive balance and opportunities for teams to rise through the ranks.

Sharifu named participating men’s teams as Kigamboni, TPDC, KIUT, Best Six, UDSM, JKT, Nyika, Tanzania Prisons, High Voltage, Chui, Dar City, Jeshi Stars, Bandari, IP Sports, Twalipo, Giraffe, Wazo, Tai and TCTA.

Women’s teams include TPDC, KIUT, UDSM, JKT, Tanzania Prisons, Chui, Dar City, Jeshi Stars, Bandari, IP Sports, Twalipo, Wazo and Tai.

According to the unveiled fixture, the men’s Serie B action kicks off with Twalipo facing Kigamboni, followed by TCTA against TPDC. Giraffe takes on Best Six, while IP Sports tests UDSM skills.

In men Serie A, KIUT hosts Jeshi Stars in a tough opener, before Bandari faces JKT in another highly anticipated match. The opening day wraps up with Tanzania Prisons against High Voltage.

In the women’s Serie B, Chui challenges TPDC, Tai goes up against Dar City and UDSM meets Wazo.

Serie A action begins with a showdown between JKT and Tanzania Prisons, followed by KIUT taking on Star Girls. The last women’s match of the opening day sees Jeshi Stars testing Bandari’s skills.

The league continues tomorrow with nine exciting matchups at KIUT grounds, the home of this season’s action.

The tournament officially kicks off on March 15, 2025, setting the stage for months of intense battles among Tanzania’s top volleyball squads.

Fans can expect electrifying displays of athleticism, teamwork and strategy as teams push their limits in pursuit of victory.

Sharifu however, encouraged volleyball enthusiasts and sports fans to follow the league closely and witness history in the making.
