DAR set to shine as Dar Night Run returns for 8th edition

DAR ES SALAAM: DAR ES SALAAM is gearing up to glow once more as the much-loved Dar Night Run returns for its eighth edition this weekend on Saturday, August 30.

Promising an unforgettable evening of sweat, smiles, and shared passion for fitness, runners will take on scenic routes of 10- and 15-kilometers winding through the city’s beautifully illuminated streets.

The annual event has grown into one of Tanzania’s most iconic recreational sporting experiences, inspiring thousands from all walks of life to embrace regular exercise and lead healthier lifestyles.

Organizers highlight the unique allure of the night-time format, which not only helps participants escape the daytime heat but also lets them soak up the electric energy of Dar es Salaam after dark.

“This is more than just a race, it’s a movement as It’s about community, well-being, and proving to yourself that you can go the distance,” said Godphrey Mindu, spokesperson for the runners’ club.

The run offers two main categories, a 10km route designed for recreational runners and a more demanding 15km course for those looking to push their limits. To keep spirits high along the way, water stations, live music performances, and vibrant cheer zones will energize participants from start to finish.

While competition takes a backseat, timing chips will be available for those eager to test their speed, with medals and small prizes awarded to top performers. But for organizers, the true prize is the sense of accomplishment and the healthy habits fostered by the event.
