Dar Port Oil Tanks set to end fuel shortages

DAR ES SALAAM: The Oil Receiving and Storage Tanks Construction Project at the Port of Dar es Salaam in Kigamboni is steadily taking shape, marking a significant milestone in the government’s drive to modernise strategic infrastructure and strengthen energy security.

Once completed, the facility is expected to drastically reduce or completely eliminate fuel shortages in the country while enhancing national energy security.

The project will also cut vessel waiting time at anchorage from an average of 22 days to just seven days, and reduce cargo discharge time from seven days to only one day.

In addition, the investment is projected to boost government revenue through increased tax and levy collections by relevant authorities, while creating employment opportunities for Tanzanians and reinforcing Dar es Salaam’s role as a key petroleum handling hub in the region.
