Coast RC tasks institutions to empower youth through IPOSA projects

KIBAHA: COAST Regional Commissioner Mr Abubakar Kunenge has directed adult education institutions to ensure that activities implemented under the Integrated Programme for Out-of-School Adolescents (IPOSA) provide young people with practical skills that can lead to employment or self-employment.

He made the remarks while closing a training session for teachers working under the IPOSA programme in Kibaha Municipal Council recently.

“The government established this programme to transform the lives of young people by empowering them with skills to start their own businesses or secure jobs. It is now your responsibility to support the government in achieving this goal and help our youth,” Mr Kunenge said.

The Regional Commissioner said that the success of the programme should be measured not merely by the number of certificates awarded, but by the ability of graduates to become economically self-reliant and reduce illiteracy levels within their communities.

“We must assess how our youth are benefiting from this initiative. Our aim is not only to see them receiving certificates, but also to witness real transformation in their mindset and economic status,” he stressed.

The IPOSA programme targets out-of-school youth by equipping them with a variety of skills, including literacy, entrepreneurship, and life skills.

Its main objective is to enable young people to participate effectively in development activities, become self-reliant, and contribute to the growth of their communities.
