Clean energy turns Tanzanian capital clean city

DODOMA: DODOMA has been named among the Tanzanian regions leading in the use of clean energy, as preparations are underway to officially begin the daily use of natural gas.

This initiative is part of the region’s efforts to ensure its residents have access to safe, environmentally friendly, and economically efficient energy sources.

The announcement was made by Dodoma Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule during the launch of the 25-Year Strategic Plan of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).

Speaking at the event, Senyamule said Dodoma is determined to become a national example in the use of clean energy, with significant preparations already in progress to achieve this goal.

She highlighted ongoing plans to transform the Hombolo area into a “Clean City,” where only clean energy will be used. This plan includes restricting the use of dirty fuels and ensuring that all vehicles entering and leaving the area use clean energy sources, such as natural gas.

According to Senyamule, these efforts align with the national vision of environmental protection, public health improvement, and economic growth through the adoption of sustainable energy. Dodoma is expected to serve as a model for other regions in Tanzania in driving energy transformation.
