Chinese investor plans Dodoma logistics centre
DODOMA: A CHINESE investor has unveiled plans to establish a major logistics and distribution hub in Dodoma. The investor cited the city’s strategic location, the newly completed Inland Dry Port and the upcoming Msalato International Airport as key factors positioning the region as a gateway for trade and investment.
The proposed investment was presented on Monday during talks between Dodoma Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule and Chinese businessman, Chen, the owner of Eastern Alliance International Limited, a company engaged in the manufacture, import, export and distribution of Chinese products to international markets.
The investor is seeking land to construct a warehouse and distribution centre that will receive goods imported from China, before distributing them to various regions across Tanzania.
The discussions also covered plans to invest in a hotel and establish another Chinese language training institution to strengthen skills development and support growing business links between Tanzania and China.
Speaking during the meeting, Ms Senyamule said the investment proposal comes at an opportune time as Dodoma continues to strengthen its position as the country’s emerging logistics and commercial hub.
She said the recently completed Inland Dry Port, together with the ongoing construction of Msalato International Airport, will significantly enhance cargo handling, transportation and regional trade, making Dodoma increasingly attractive to local and foreign investors.

“The availability of modern transport and logistics infrastructure has created a favourable investment environment. These strategic projects will simplify the movement of goods while opening up new business opportunities for investors,” she said.
Ms Senyamule said the regional administration remains committed to facilitating investment and ensuring investors receive the necessary support to establish businesses that create employment and contribute to economic growth. Mr Chen is also the founder of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dodoma (UDOM), which offers Chinese language training from certificate to degree level.
The institute currently enrols about 350 students and helps outstanding graduates secure employment opportunities in Chinese companies operating in Tanzania and abroad. Mr Chen was accompanied by the institute’s Director, Amber Zheng, during the discussions.
The proposed investment is expected to strengthen trade links between Tanzania and China while reinforcing Dodoma’s position as a strategic centre for logistics, commerce and investment.
