CDF Cup receives 150m/- boost from NMB

DAR ES SALAAM: NMB Bank has announced a 150m/- sponsorship package for the eighth edition of the CDF Cup, which will run from July 6 to 17 in Dar es Salaam.
Organised by the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF), the tournament will bring together military teams competing in 13 sports, including football, volleyball, basketball, handball, golf, swimming, darts, beach soccer and boxing.
During the sponsorship handover in Dar es Salaam, NMB Bank Head of Personal Banking Aikansia Muro said the bank’s support was aimed at strengthening sport within the armed forces and promoting unity among participants.
“We believe this sponsorship will strengthen competition and contribute to the success of the tournament. NMB Bank remains committed to supporting sports development within the armed forces,” she said.
Aikansia said the competition will also help promote physical fitness, teamwork and cooperation among members of the defence forces.

She commended Chief of Defence Forces Gen Jacob Mkunda and the Tanzania Military Sports Council for continuing to use sport to promote unity, discipline and good health within the military.
CDF Cup organising committee chair Brig Gen Saidi Hamis Saidi said the tournament was designed to strengthen physical and mental fitness among personnel while improving relations between the military and the public.
Teams taking part will represent the TPDF Headquarters Command, Army Command, Air Force Command, Navy Command, Reserve Force Command and National Service Command.
