CCM Women’s banks hails Ndejembi as patriotic Vice President

DODOMA: THE Chairperson of CCM Women’s wing, Mary Chatanda, has described the newly sworn-in Vice-President Deogratius Ndejembi as a capable, principled and patriotic leader who can effectively support President Samia Suluhu Hassan in executing her responsibilities.

Speaking in Dodoma, the UWT Chairperson stated that Ndejembi’s track record in public service demonstrated his ability to deliver results and address challenges facing citizens.

According to Ms Chatanda, the Vice-President has consistently demonstrated a hands-on leadership style throughout his career, from serving as Kongwa District Commissioner to becoming a Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister and full Cabinet Minister in various ministries.

She singled out his tenure as Kongwa District Commissioner, where she said he successfully championed the ONJAKO initiative short for Ondoa Njaa Kongwa which aimed at tackling food insecurity in the drought-prone district.

“While in Kongwa, Dodoma, as District Commissioner, he did a commendable job. In agriculture, he successfully implemented the ONJAKO campaign, which encouraged residents to grow drought-resistant crops such as sorghum, cassava, sesame and sunflower to prevent hunger,” Chatanda said.

She said the initiative was well received by farmers after Ndejembi shifted emphasis from maize, which frequently produced poor yields due to drought conditions in the district.

Chatanda also praised Ndejembi’s performance in various ministries, including the President’s Office—Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), Youth, Lands and Energy, saying he had left a notable mark by taking a hands-on approach to resolving challenges facing citizens.

“Ndejembi is not a leader who sits in the office waiting for reports. He goes out himself to see how assignments and directives are being implemented. That is why I say President Samia has gained a hardworking and highly capable assistant,” she said.

Chatanda urged Tanzanians to pray for President Samia, Vice-President Ndejembi and other leaders as they implement government plans aimed at improving citizens’ welfare and advancing national development.
