MWANZA: THE ruling CCM members have contributed funds amounting to 5m/- to support Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) Vice Chairman Tundu Lissu in re pairing his vehicle he uses in various activities.
The members raised the money on Thursday in Mwanza Region during a public rally that was ad dressed by the party Secre tary-General Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi.
This has come just a few days after CCM cadre, Rev erend Peter Simon Msigwa, who was once a member of Chadema’s Central Committee, before defecting to CCM, publicly said that Mr Lissu does not have a reliable means of transport.
The money amounting to 5m/- was raised during the public rally held at Furahisha grounds in Mwanza City on Thursday which was part of the winding up of a two-day tour of Mwanza Region by Dr Nchimbi.
Dr Nchimbi also visited Kigoma, Kagera and Geita regions. Announcing the amount of money raised, CCM Sec retary for Ideology, Public ity and Training Mr Amos Makalla, said that the funds would be deposited into Lissu’s bank account after Pastor Msigwa confirmed the account details.
“The total amount col lected is 5.32m/- and this cash will be deposited into Lissu’s bank account, after Pastor Msigwa has confirmed his account details,” said Makalla.

CCM Secretary Gen eral Dr Nchimbi concluded his 15-day tour of Kigoma, Kagera, Geita and Mwanza regions, which aimed at as sessing the implementation of CCM’s 2020-2025 Elec tion Manifesto, evaluate the party’s vitality and strength and engage with residents and members in their com munities.
This tour also saw the party continue to win back members from other parties who are rejoining CCM due to the positive records of the government led by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
During the tour, Dr Nchimbi was accompanied by CCM Secretary for Organisation, Mr Issa Haji Usi Gavu, Mr Makalla and CCM Secretary for Politics and International Relations, Ms Rabia Hamid Abdalla.
