CCBRT Hospital launches fundraising campaign to raise 3bn/- for children healthcare

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) Hospital has launched a nationwide fundraising campaign aimed at raising Sh3 billion to support treatment for children born with various preventable and treatable medical conditions.
Speaking during the launch of the campaign in Dar es Salaam today, CCBRT Chief Executive Director Brenda Msangi said the initiative, dubbed “Stand with CCBRT,” seeks to ensure that no child is denied essential healthcare services due to financial constraints or limited access to medical care.
Msangi said thousands of children in Tanzania are born each year with treatable conditions, including clubfoot, cleft lip and palate, limb deformities, congenital cataracts, and cerebral palsy.
She noted that without early medical intervention, many of these children face lifelong disabilities, stigma, and social exclusion.
“We are launching this campaign as a national call for solidarity to ensure that every child born with treatable conditions gets access to the care they need and lives a dignified life,” she said.

CCBRT said the three-month campaign aims to mobilize Sh3 billion, which will be used to improve access to healthcare services for children with congenital disabilities, particularly in underserved and hard-to-reach areas.
Key focus areas of the campaign include early diagnosis and referral, community awareness to counter harmful myths surrounding disability, and improved access to comprehensive treatment services such as corrective surgery, physiotherapy, assistive devices, and long-term patient follow-up.
Msangi emphasized the need for communities to understand that congenital conditions are medical issues, not curses or punishments, noting that harmful beliefs continue to delay children from accessing timely treatment.
“It is important for society to change its mindset and abandon misconceptions that prevent children from receiving treatment. Education is key to ensuring that these children are not discriminated against,” she said.

For more than 30 years, the institution has been improving services for people with disabilities through treatment, health education, advocacy, and strengthening referral systems across the country.
Statistics show that approximately 4.2 million people in Tanzania live with various forms of disability.
CCBRT has called on government institutions, the private sector, development partners, health professionals, the media, and the public to participate in the campaign to expand access to treatment for children in need.
Msangi also expressed gratitude to Azam Media Group for supporting the dissemination of the campaign message through its media platforms.
“We call upon citizens, institutions, and stakeholders to stand with us by contributing through NMB Bank account number 23910009087 (CCBRT Headquarters) or via mobile payment number 12174228 (CCBRT Fundraising) through M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Mixx by Yas, and HaloPesa to help children achieve their dreams,” she said.
