DAR ES SALAAM: Tanzanian referees Ahmed Arajiga and Frank Komba have been selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate at the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals.
A statement issued by CAF, shared by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) on Friday, confirmed that Arajiga is among 25 referees chosen to serve as central match officials during the tournament.
Meanwhile, Komba has been selected as one of 24 assistant referees, further solidifying Tanzania’s presence in international football officiating.
The CHAN 2025 finals, a premier competition for locally-based players, will be held from February 1 to 28 across three East African nations: Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
This marks the first time the championship will be hosted jointly by three countries.
The selection of Tanzanian referees is a testament to the nation’s growing reputation in football officiating.
Both referees have significant experience officiating high-profile matches, including CAF competitions, CECAFA tournaments, and domestic leagues.

Recently, Ahmed Arajiga was among four Tanzanian referees officiated the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match between Guinea and Liberia at Maloba Stadium on October 11.
The CHAN tournament, which exclusively features players competing in their domestic leagues, serves as a critical platform for showcasing local talent.
For East Africa, hosting the event provides an opportunity to demonstrate its football infrastructure and organizational capacity to the rest of the continent.
